The Author's Humorous Memoir

Raised in a small, blue-collar town in New Jersey, Gloria Casale never expected to grow up to go to medical school or law school. The best most girls hoped for, she notes, was to become a housewife, secretary, nurse, or teacher. After earning her medical degree, Gloria Casale was trained in anesthesiology and public health. After 9/11 she attended the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases to learn about bioterror and bioterror response. She subsequently completed her fellowship in Primary Care Policy with the U.S. Public Health Service in 2001.

Letters From the ER - Penises I've Cared For - But Not Cared About

Casale wrote many letters, infused with her typical humor, during her service in the ER, prompting many people to encourage her to write a book. The author recalls how her life simply started happening — like an accident that wasn't planned. She used humor and writing to share her life via letters and now in a soon-to-be-released memoir, Emergency Medicine Memoirs.

She would love you to share interesting stories from your Emergency Medicine experiences.

A New World

The author notes that when the writing bug bites, there is no defense. It sends the writer on a new journey into a world that the author creates and controls. Casale's evolution as an author has shown her that writing novels is a learned skill and a lot of hard work in order to give readers an escape from the everyday world. Her ability to transport her readers into a world of suspense — taking them to places they've never been — is the true measure of her success.
